…our little story.
Out of a teenager’s need for the latest fashion trend, goodyTWOshirtsTM was born. We’ve all had that moment when we thought, “There has to be a better way.” Our founder said just that when she saw her teenage daughter put on her new sweater over a collared shirt and then begin the familiar struggle of trying to make the collared shirt and the sweater work together – without all the bumps, bulges and restricting feeling we all know too well. This was soon followed by watching her daughter sigh in disappointment and then decide to wear something else that day.
A mother will go to the ends of the earth to make her children happy. Well, okay, not to the ends of the earth, but you know the ridiculousness we’re talking about. The founder here at Goody Two-Shirts thought there had to be a better, more comfortable way for her daughter to get the look of a collared shirt under a sweater without that all too familiar distracting feeling. So, she got out her sewing machine, cut the collar and cuffs off one of her shirts, and sewed it to one of her undershirts. Voila, that was the answer.
Our founder shared her shirt idea with a colleague over lunch one day. He just happened to know someone who had become a successful fashion designer in the St. Louis area. From there, one connection led to another connection and so on. There were bumps along the way, but the biggest challenge was overcoming the constant doubt that an average working mom from the Midwest could actually bring an idea into reality without knowing anything about the fashion industry. Relying on her inventive instincts and with the support of family and friends, our very own goody two-shoes created Goody Two-Shirts. Let’s just say, it’s not your husband’s dickey.
